Valedictory

North Shore MP Maggie Barry ONZM has delivered her Valedictory statement in the house before retiring from Parliament in 2020.

 

“After being elected with the class of 2011 by the people of the North Shore, It has been an honour to serve for three terms and to have been part of such a talented National Party Caucus

 

“I was privileged to serve as a Cabinet Minister from 2014 to 2017 as Minister of Conservation, Seniors and Arts Culture and Heritage.

 

“Serving as Arts Culture and Heritage Minister responsible for the World War I commemorations has been a particular highlight, and I was privileged to be able to play a part in such a historic events including unveiling the New Zealand plaques at many of the French and Belgium Western Front battlefields.

 

“It’s been an enormous privilege to have made a contribution to helping save our threatened plant and bird species as Minister of Conservation. By leading initiatives like Predator Free 2050, Battle for Our Birds and War on Weeds.
