Dan's the Man for Northcote

We've reached the final stretch of the Northcote byelection campaign - two months' campaigning has all been leading up to election day on Saturday 9 June. Early voting is now open, and over 3000 people have already cast their votes.

Dan Bidois is an impressive, capable candidate with a real plan for Northcote and the entire National Party has been getting behind him. It's an important by-election to send the government a message that we don't want their regional fuel tax and their big spend approach. Let's keep all of the electorates north of the Harbour Bridge blue.

Amy Adams Budget Breakfast

National Party Finance Spokesperson and former Rangitoto College pupil Amy Adams returned to the electorate she grew up in to explain what the coalition government's budget means for the people and businesses of the Shore. Her take away message: higher taxes, more borrowing and erratic spending are putting all New Zealaders' hard work at risk. Don't get distracted by the headlines and the spin, this government is squandering the strong economy they inherited from National.

Celebrating Mother's Day

I spent Mother’s Day in style at a High Tea in support of Breast Cancer NZ at Westlake Girls' in Takapuna. Along with Nanogirl Michelle Dickinson we shared advice from our own mothers. Congratulations on a memorable afternoon organised by prefect Caitlin Goodin and her hardworking parents & team. Over 150 people attended and the morning tea raised $12,000 for Pink Ribbon - what a fantastic result.

AIMES Awards: Acknowledging Achievement

US Ambassador Scott Brown

I enjoyed talking to US Ambassador Scott Brown and was impressed by how well he understands New Zealand after his first year. He told me he's had great visits to the North Shore area, which is home to important naval links between our countries.

Taking the Temperature of Takapuna

Panuku Development Auckland is currently engaging with the public on the future of Takapuna's town square. It's a great opportunity to get the real story, ask questions and put forward your opinions. Panuku has had a strong response from the community so far and as your local MP I encourage you to be heard.
